Our final 07-08 PAC Series performance will feature the Ōn Ensemble (pronounced “ohn”), a group comprised of four young musicians with over 60 combined years of taiko experience. Rooted in taiko rhythms, the ensemble has created an innovative sound that blends jazz, folk, traditional, rock, and electronica. As stated by Martin Patmos of Modern Drummer Magazine, "Ōn Ensemble is an exciting taiko ensemble looking at new ways to apply traditional Japanese drums... Be it English lyrics, throat singing, melodically rhythmic koto passages, traditional flutes, or electronic manipulation, the exciting range of taiko drums solidly supports the pieces."
