A Monk of St. Joseph Abbey near Covington, Louisiana, Father Sean Duggan is currently a professor of piano at the State University of New York at Fredonia. He has performed throughout the world as a solo artist and has appeared with various orchestras including the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra and the American Chamber Orchestra. Duggan has been the winner of the Johann Sebastian Bach International Competition multiple times, allowing him to tour extensively throughout Germany. He has also toured to give complete performances of Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier and performed the complete cycle of Bach’s keyboard works in fifteen recitals entitled Bach on the Threshold of Hope. In addition to receiving critical acclaim for his performances featuring works by Bach, Duggan’s liturgical compositions have appeared in hymnals published by The Liturgical Press and G.I.A. Currently, Duggan is in the midst of recording the complete (non-organ) keyboard works of Bach for commercial release.

An international authority on French repertoire, British pianist Paul Roberts enjoys an extensive playing and lecturing schedule that takes him across the United States, Great Britain and Western Europe. Roberts is a Fellow of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, visiting professor at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and director of Music at Castelfranc piano program in southern France. In the United States, he regularly performs and teaches in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, at Juilliard in New York, and is a favorite guest of the annual summer Festival of Portland Piano International. In addition to teaching and performing, Roberts has authored two books on Debussy and is currently recording Debussy’s complete piano music. The first CD in the series has received a four star recommendation from Classic CD magazine, proclaiming it as “probably the most desirable modern recording of the Preludes currently available in the UK.”
Paul Roberts will conduct a master class on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. in the PAC Concert Hall. The master class is free and open to the public.
